RME wins the ALABC 2024 Business Excellence Award

RME is honoured to once again receive the Australia-Latin America Business Council’s (ALABC) 2024 Business Excellence Award which celebrates Australian organisations for their achievements in Latin America.

RME is honoured to receive the Australia-Latin America Business Council’s (ALABC) 2024 Business Excellence Award. We thank ALABC and the judging panel for this prestigious recognition and congratulate the other winners and finalists.

The ALABC awards celebrate “exceptional Australian organisations for their outstanding business achievements in Latin America”, recognising excellence in trade and investment based on business strategy and growth, product and service innovation, Environmental, Social and Governance Practices, and commitment to the Latin American region.

RME was recognised by ALABC with the same award in 2009 demonstrating our team’s ongoing exceptional track record of delivering economic and safety benefits in collaboration with our Latin American Customers. We are grateful to all our Customers and valued staff across the region. Together, we remain dedicated to the task of removing fatal risks through innovative solutions and visibly, defensibly, and sustainably improving our Customer's concentrator performance.

We were delighted to receive the award at the ALABC Annual Dinner where the Australian Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade Victorian State Director, Tim Kane and Her Excellency Dianela Pi, Dean of GRULAC Ambassadors and Ambassador of Uruguay showcased the enormous and growing opportunity for trade and investment between Australia and Latin American countries.

RME’s deep Latin American roots

RME’s history in the Latin American region dates back to 1996 with the export of the first RUSSELL Mill Relining Machine to the region. With a steady stream of technology installations in the years that followed, RME established a direct presence in the region in 2004 to better serve our growing Customer base.

Twenty years later and RME’s equipment operates on 77 Latin American mine sites across Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Panama and Peru. The region is home to some of RME’s oldest and most loyal Customers, as well as our largest cohort of specialised local technical staff, outside of Australia.

With five dedicated RME regional service centres and additional support from RME’s global network, RME is committed to transferring its knowledge and skills to benefit career development of local employees, as well as their families and communities.

The forefront of advanced safety technology

RME’s Latin American Customers have been early adopters of RME Advanced Technology, including the first commercial adoption of THUNDERBOLT SKYWAY, RME's technology that roboticises the operation of THUNDERBOLT Recoilless Hammer for safer and faster worn liner knock-in..

The Latin American region continues to work at the forefront of advanced safety and automation technology adoption with growing interest and investment to enable relining from outside the mill.

Standing the test of time

Well-maintained RUSSELL Mill Relining Machines (MRMs) routinely exceed 20 years of field operation. Across Latin America, RUSSELL MRMs have stood the test of time.

An unwavering dedication to precision engineering and quality manufacturing ensures RME’s mill relining systems perform optimally, translating to a lower total cost of ownership and higher return on investment for our Customers across Latin American and beyond.

“This award is deeply meaningful for RME. Latin America was the destination for our first export RUSSELL Mill Relining Machine and the first region to adopt our robotics knock-in technology, THUNDERBOLT SKYWAY. This year also marks 20 years since our direct presence in the region was established in 2004."
